FAQ PTU ADMISSIONS

Through Centralized Online Counselling candidates can get admission in the Constituent Campuses/Affiliated Colleges of participating Universities according to their choice on the basis of their Rank/Merit by participating online. A candidate requires an internet enabled device (i.e. Laptop / Desktop / Tablet etc.) and can participate in centralized online counselling from anywhere. All the activities i.e. from counselling fee deposition to allotment of seats, shall be done online through web module.

To participate in Centralized Online Counselling the candidate has to pay one time Online fee of Rs. 2,000/- (Two thousand Only) (Non Refundable) for each selected course. The detailed procedure to participate in Centralized Online Counselling is available on IKGPTU website www.ptu.ac.in under “Admissions 2022-23″ tab.

Centralized Online Counselling fee can be paid Online through following modes:-

  • Through Debit Card or Credit Card
  • Through Cash Card
  • Through UPI
  • Through Net Banking

No. This is one time payment to participate in all the Rounds of Centralized Online Counselling. If you have paid counselling fee in the 1st Round then you need not to pay it again to participate in subsequent Rounds of counselling. It does not matter that whether you get seat in the 1st round.

This provision to deposit counselling fee in the 2nd round is for only those candidates who were not able to deposit the Centralized Online Counselling Fee in the previous Round.

Yes, you can participate in the both rounds of Centralized Online Counselling. If seat is allotted to you in the 1st Round and you are not much satisfied with that allotted seat then you may participate in the 2nd Round of counselling. It is advise to fill only those choices which is better than previously allotted seat.

Seat allotted during 1st Round of Centralized Online Counselling may be get reserved by reporting at allotted Institutes and depositing admission Fee. In case you get seat in the 2nd round then your previously allotted seat will automatically be cancelled and you will be eligible to take refund from previous allotted Institute as per norms. You will have no right on the previous allotted seat after getting seat in the 2nd Round.

In case you don’t get any seat in 2nd Round then your previous allotted seat will be retained.

If you don’t reserve your seat then you will not be able to retain that seat again if the seat is not allotted in 2nd round.

YES. You have to deposit the course semester fee etc. again in the new allotted college. It is your duty to submit the letter regarding upgraded seat at new Institute for Admission as well as at previous allotted Institute to cancel your seat and refund of fees.

In this case you may submit your request to Accounts Department of IKGPTU with supporting documents for consideration.

No. The candidate can participate under one quota only either in the 85% quota (Punjab Resident Quota) or 15% quota (Outside Punjab Resident Quota) as per his/her State of eligibilityIf any candidate fails to prove his state of eligibility at the time of admission (after seat allotment), his / her candidature will be denied/rejected.

No. Such candidates, who have reappear in qualifying examination, will not be eligible for participate in Centralized Online Counselling. If any candidate participate in Centralized Online Counselling with wrong credentials then his/her admission will not be considered at the time of reporting in the allotted Institute.

No. But if you fill maximum number of choices, you have a better chance of getting a seat.

There is no limit of filling choices. It is advised to fill maximum choices and to arrange them in the order of preference. The information regarding the Institute and the courses offered by them is also available in the Information Brochure which can be downloaded from website of I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University www.ptu.ac.in.

Yes, you can Edit, Delete and Re-arrange Choices , as many times as you want, before the locking of choices or before the last date/time of choice filling prescribed in Counselling Schedule.

All the Centralized Online Counselling processes for Punjab Residents (85% quota) and Other state Residents (15% quota) will be held simultaneously. For details please go through the counselling schedule.

In that case the allotted seat will be cancelled automatically and the same will be included to next round of counselling and you will lose your right over that seat.

After allotment of seat, candidate have to report at allotted Institute within the reporting time period, as given in the Counselling schedule. The reporting dates are also mentioned in the provisional allotment letter.

General FAQs related to Admissions

At the time of Admission the students require to produce the following documents in original in the admitting Institute:-

  • 10th DMC
  • 12th DMC (for Admission in Under Graduate Courses)
  • Diploma DMCs (for Admission in Lateral Entry Courses)
  • DMCs / Degree of Graduation (for Admission in Post Graduate Courses)
  • Residential Certificate (Domicile or another valid Address Proof)
  • Reserved Category Certificate (as Applicable)
  • Passport Size Photograph
  • Migration Certificate of Qualifying Exam
  • Aadhaar Card (Mandatory for Beneficiary Students)
  • Income Certificate (If admitted under Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme or Post Matric Scholarship Scheme)
  • Sikh Religion Exam Score Card (In case of B.Tech. 1st Year – If Applicable)
  • Entrance Exam Score Card (If Applicable)
  • NATA Score Card (Applicable for admission in B.Architecture Course)
  • Centralized Online Counselling Registration Form. (If got seat through Centralized Online Counselling)
